Event: MOVE FOR MENTAL HEALTH (5km run or a 1km wheel/walk)

Host: COPE: A Student Mental Health Initiative and Mood Disorders Society of Canada

 

 

Date: Sunday, September 30, 2012, during Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Time: 10am-noon, registration begins at 9:30 am! Please come early.

Location: McMaster University Campus – Meet at Mills Plaza (See point “A” on the Route Map; also, scroll down for detailed written Driving/Transit/Walking Directions)

Online Registration: Online registration is now closed. Register in person at the event.

Fundraising: This event is not only an opportunity to raise awareness, but to raise funds to assist local non-profit mental health organizations. Please help us by inviting your friends, family, colleagues and others to sponsor you! Proceeds go to Mood Disorders Society of Canada. Fundraising goal is  $20/perticipant, although all Donations are welcome!

For a fundraising form, download here. Put your completed fundraising form and donations in an envelope, and bring it to the event on Sept 30th.  Contact the event coordinator if any questions.

Event Details: This event is for students and members of the community to come out and have fun in support of mental health. Together we will demonstrate community support and establish solidarity for speaking openly about depression and other mood disorders. Waiver

Driving/Transit/Walking Directions to Event:

Below are directions to the parking area, and then walking instructions to Mills Plaza, which is where the event will be set up.

From Main Street to the Parking Lot (Driving)

1. Head west on Main St W/Regional Road 8 W 170 m
2. Turn right onto Cootes Dr 350 m
3. Take the exit toward College Ct 250 m
4. Turn left onto College Ct 110 m
5. Slight left onto Westaway Rd
Continue forward into parking area.

To MILLS PLAZA from the parking lot (Walking)…

1. Head northeast on Westaway Rd toward Presidents Dr 290 m
2. Slight right onto College Ct 140 m
3. Turn left toward Scholars Rd 110 m
4. Turn left onto Scholars Rd 47 m
5. Turn right to stay on Scholars Rd
MILLS PLAZA will be on the right

Walking from Main Street to Mills Plaza

1. Head west on Main St W/Regional Road 8 W 12 m
2. Turn right toward University Ave 75 m
3. Turn left onto University Ave 210 m
4. Turn right to stay on University Ave 300 m
5. Turn right at Scholars Rd

Also for those taking public transit, the 51, 10, 1, and 52 will get you beside or on university property and then follow the appropriate directions from there.
